This place is absolutely beautiful! The staff were so friendly and helpful especially Azza. The rooms were large and beautifully decorated with a fireplace and the bed was extra comfy. The restaurant is lovely and has a wonderful ambience. My husband and I really enjoyed the six-course meal and the wine pairing. Everything was delicious and well-presented. We will be back and would recommend this Boutique Hotel as an absolute must for anyone who wants to be downtown in Edmonton.

My wife, & I stayed there for one night on my 50th Birthday last night. We were booked In the older side facing downtown Jasper Ave, they upgraded us to the contemporary king size suite. This suite is so amazing. The ensuite bathroom is unbelievable. Will definitely be back.

Hotel itself is great. The rooms are very cozy and you get wine and cheese when you arrive. The breakfast is amazing and included. The one thing I did notice were the front desk staff, who were friendly, but some not wearing masks. I am not sure what the policy is in Edmonton, but it seemed very strange to me that not all staff were in masks. Other than that, a great experience and we will definitely be back.

We got married at the Union Bank Inn on August 22, 2020. I cannot say enough amazing things about our experience with them! We planned everything within a few months as we had to downsize and rebook our wedding due to COVID. Our event coordinator, Graham, was an absolute pleasure to work with! He was so accommodating and took everything we said into consideration! They planned such an amazing day for us! The set up of the room was STUNNING! They made the whole day flow so smoothly and the food was DELICIOUS! We got so many compliments from our guests about how much they loved our wedding! And we had an amazing time too! Not to mention there were some great places within walking distance for photos which was great! We also spent the night in the hotel, which was absolutely gorgeous and very clean. The breakfast in the morning was so delicious! I would highly recommend the Union Bank Inn as a wedding venue, just so beautiful and amazing staff, couldn’t have asked for a more perfect wedding!

We stayed on the Heritage side of the hotel. The room was a bit disparate from the advertised photos, but I'm confident much of this has to do with the extra strains placed on staff because of COVID. Two advertised items were also missing from our deluxe room: a mini-fridge and bathrobes. The room's are a tad dated, which is to be expected, especially on the heritage side, but the bed is comfortable, albeit with sheets that were a little rough. I've been in buildings equally as old in downtown Edmonton, and they haven't been nearly as well kept as the Union Bank Inn.To justify the 5-star rating, I've taken into account the exceptional hospitality of both receptionists I dealt with. Each staff member I greeted performed with decorum and was pleasant in their interactions with me. The wine and cheese in the room is a welcome touch and the breakfast at Madison's Grill is a great way to start a morning. The central location is ideal as is the overall cleanliness and appearance of the building. I had no issues thinking that things were not sanitized. Our room was also discounted as part of a promotion.Overall, this is a lovely place to stay in downtown Edmonton, and it is worth the experience.

Four stars.Upon arrival we were not sure where to park or what the ramifications of parking were. The hotel charged us$60.00 to park for two nights...No one helped us bring in our luggage as we navigated a barrage of transient individuals.Overall the service was good. Food was mediocre. First night the meal was spot on. Steak was cooked to perfection. Second night the chicken was over cooked and the braised ribs were lacking...Room was clean. Social distancing minimums were apparent yet we didn't feel comfortable settling in until we had thoroughly sanitized the room.The bath tub wasn't as clean looking as we had hoped. But they sure did have fuzzy soft housecoats.We would stay here again but venture out for meals and find our own parking.

Stay away from this hotel. We had to be moved because our room only has one curtain. Both rooms smelled of feet the carpets were not clean. The hallways were quite dirty and run down. The manager is incredibly rude. When we left they accused us of smoking because they found ash on a filthy alley windowsill, so they charged my card an extra 339.00 I'm sti in dispute. Do yourself a favour and stay away this place is a, dump and a scam.

An enjoyable stay with this boutique hotel, complementary wine with cheese and fruit in room upon arrival was a welcome touch. Courteous professional service from desk clerks and restaurant wait staff. Full meal service breakfast menu included, also a pleasant surprise. Finding their assigned parking access off the alley requires a trip around the block to find it. Heritage premium room had a cozy fireplace with antique furniture.

We stayed here for our 10 year wedding anniversary and it was amazing. From the moment we walked in to the time we left we couldnt of asked for a better romantic getaway then the one we had. They upgraded our room free of charge and allowed us to check in early. The woman at the front desk was incredible kind and helpful. The complimentary wine and cheese was lovely and they added chocolate covered cherries which were delicious. The bed was very comfortable and we had a restful sleep in the gorgeous, clean, beautifully decorated room (We stayed in the heritage wing). The breakfast the next morning was delicious and the service was top notch. We will definitely be back and will recommend this place to whoever is looking for a romantic getaway in the city. I'd give them 10 stars if I could. Thank you for a memorable anniversary!

By far tye best hotel i have ever stayed in. The staff was very polite and proffesional and always willing to help. It was a clean and by far the most well set up place i have ever stayed. I would reccomend tgis place to any one. The price was also so reasonable.

Our go to for short work trips! Love the care and attention to detail of each room and the fireplace is a plus not to mention the jetted bathtubs! The rooms are super cozy and don't have a single bad thing to say! Best part is coming back to the room after a long work day and seeing the glass of wine, crackers, cheese and grapes ready for you all complimentary! Also, don't miss the breakfast it's amazing!

Union bank inn went beyond my expectations. I decided for my birthday to have a night away, and it could not have been better. It started from the fact that every message I sent was responded to quickly. Then when I checked in I recieved not only the complimentary wine and cheese but a surprise birthday card and chocolate covered cherries with a personal message. I ordered some wine and the gentleman who brought it was kind and had some great suggestions for dinner. Next when I got home from dinner I really wanted a a hot chocolate, and even though the restaurant was closed (unknown to me) they made me one. Then they allowed me to have a late checkout. And if that was not enough the next day I had a lovely breakfast. To top it off the room was cozy and elegant, the bathrobe luxurious and the staff was amazing. The union bank inn went well beyond what I hoped for, and made me feel truly special. I would recommend this true gem to anyone. Thankyou to everyone, and while this was my first visit it will definitely not be my last.

We came for a one night stay for our anniversary. The room was spacious, clean and they have wine and cheese waiting for you. Small added touches are lovely. Bed very comfy.We are at the restaurant for supper. We had the hen and seafood pasta. Both were delicious. Cute place. We had breakfast there as well. Salmon eggs Benny exceeded my standards. All the people we talked to were great. They helped us find parking too. Very busy downtown due to Christmas parties. Would stay here again.

If you get the chance to stay in this quaint hotel make sure that you book a room on the heritage side. We were blown away with how beautiful the room was, how comfortable the bed was and how wonderful the staff were. The person working the front desk welcomed us and took his time on instructing us on some of the fundamentals of this hotel. He also made a wonderful suggest for breakfast the following morning. Thank you for being one of a kind and making our stay perfect.

The room, staff, restaurant, and ambiance are all really nice, but downtown Edmonton is getting a little rough for the average person who is coming back to the hotel in the evening. Not to scare anyone away, but it is a little daunting at times when they are yelling at each other or at you and bothering you to give them stuff or buy drugs

Room was cosy and warm. Had a elegant feel to it and fireplace was a nice touch to give the room a warmth. Bed was a little soft but still nice. Shower was good with lots of warm water. Bathroom was actually very spacious. Staff is friendly and helpful. Free breakfast included in the main floor restaurant. Had the eggs Benedict and were very yummy. Would stay again. Price for room was fair. Had the queen sized bed.

I unfortunately had the displeasure of speaking to someone at the Union Bank Inn and experienced the rudest hospitality industry worker I've ever dealt with. I work in the event industry and deal with many hospitality professionals and have never had an experience like this. Atleast at other hotels if they are clueless and can't figure out how to help you, they try and be polite about it.I had booked a room here and had to cancel it and then found out a family member had secretly covered the room cost as a surprise, so I wanted to speak with the hotel on rebooking and making this unique situation work. When I spoke to the Inn about making this work so we could still have the experience, the woman I spoke to talked down to me like I was a child, used industry jargon, literally laughed AT me for trying to clarify my predicament, interrupted me when I tried to speak, and flat out refused to work with me on solving the issue. After 5 minutes on the phone with this woman I had completely changed my mind about giving the Union Bank Inn any money and will not ever stay here nor support it in any capacity.I cannot believe this hotel has people like this working in a customer service capacity; I was not valued whatsoever as a guest and have never been made to feel like I was so bothersome. Perhaps the employees who work during the day are more polite but this person has ruined this hotel for me, a hotel I had always looked forward staying at.Please don't support a business with such horrible customer service practices and stay in another lovely establishment available in the downtown core of Edmonton.

Fantastic hotel in a close location to many Edmonton attractions and good food options. The included breakfast was absolutely top notch and the rooms were clean and quite large. The bed/pillows were great and the bathrooms were similarly excellent. The only slight downside is the park next to the hotel has less than optimal clientele so be aware of your surroundings. We were never bothered by anyone.

Excellent stay. We stayed in the contemporary wing in the Presidential suite. The room was beautiful and so clean. The complimentary wine and cheese were a nice addition. The bed and pillows were the most comfortable we’ve slept on. Fabulous complimentary breakfast in the beautiful restaurant. Friendly and courteous staff. We met one of the owners on our way out and she was very personable. We will definitely be staying again! Next time we will try the historical wing😃

I have been travelling my entire life and stayed from youth hostel to 5 star hotel, but I was never so disappointed. This hotel us disgusting, old and cheap wanting to look a boutique hotel. I cannot believe al those reviews saying it is a quiet hotel, that’s not true. Extremely noisy from borh inside and outside. Smells horrible, bathroom is so tiny you do not have place to put anything. No counter. Tiny room so dark and depressing. When I switched on the light in the bathroom, I felt the electricity passing through my hand. If I had time, I would pursue this hotel, I am sure all good reviwes are fake. The bbq smell in the bathroom (towels smell like that) make me throwing up.please avoid thid hotel, it is a nightmare. However staff is very nice.

Lovely place. I stayed in a contemporary room that had a fire place, fridge, large flat screen TV and coffee machine. My rate for the night included a wine and cheese plate sampler that I enjoyed as a late night snack. The staff were all incredible! I was able to park in their covered garage. I aslo had a complimentary breakfast included at Madison Grill. The restaurant is very well decorated in purple hues and the food was delicious! I'm looking forward to staying in a heritage room when I stay here again in May. Highly recommend!

This is a wonderful hotel! The rooms in the Heritage wing are warm, inviting, unique, and make your stay memorable. Should you be looking for a wonderful place to host a wedding reception, we can tell you that we had an extraordinary experience twenty years ago and keep coming back.In twenty years of staying here, we have always loved the staff, the high standards the hotel is kept at and the incredible stays. I could not more highly recommend this hotel for a boutique experience, if you can get a room in the heritage wing.Well done Union Bank Inn, keep up the amazing work!!!

I love this hotel. I am staying 3 days for business and it's been amazing. The beds are comfortable the rooms are beautiful all of the staff have been incredibly welcoming and helpful everyone has made the effort to remember my name and I have really enjoyed the incredible breakfasts here. I will definitely recommend this hotel to all my colleagues who are having to come here and all of my friends who want a nice place to stay for a treat.

Went for dinner at Madison's Grill. The menu descriptions looked promising, however the reality was much below expectations. Presentation was fine, and temperature of the beef and salmon were perfect. However a majority of the dishes lacked proper seasoning. Not enough salt or anything. The salmon was fishy, and the fishiness was absorbed into the risotto. The risotto was described as being a saffron lemon risotto - completely lacked this flavours. Sadly the best part of this meal was the bread, and the panna cotta dessert was decent. As lackluster as this meal was, the service was impeccable and our server was on the ball throughout the evening. Unfortunately, the kitchen needs to up their game as the food scene is rapidly growing in town.

Fantastic boutique hotel in the heart of downtown Edmonton. Our stay for one night on our 30th anniversary was wonderful right from our checking in till leaving. We stayed in the original Union Bank portion of the hotel and loved it. We stayed in the Chintz room and it was cozy. The ambiance was great and the room was clean and tidy. The complementary wine and cheese was great. I also ordered the bubbles and chocolate and enjoyed it. The experience was lovely and will return for another anniversary in the future. I would recommend this little hotel with a big heart to anyone looking for a unique stay in downtown Edmonton. We also we to the restaurant Madison’s Grill and it was amazing.

We are from Calgary and love traveling to Edmonton for concerts and hockey games. We decided to try a new hotel, Union Bank, for the Justin Timberlake concert. We booked two nights in an upgraded room. When hearing about the postponement of the concert we immediately called the hotel to cancel our resevation. The girl we spoke to when calling the hotel was defensive and very quickly to not want to help with our situation. We asked if we could at least get a credit for when the JT does return and she get saying call the manager. We tried several times to talk to a ‘manager’ and we either got redirected several times and the girl refused to have him or her call us back. We unfortunately will never use this hotel and continue to use the Westin like previously. Very disappointed with their custome service.

Didn't get a chance to stay here and won't be staying here any time soon given the poor customer service. We had planned on going to Edmonton for a concert and booked on Expedia. The concert got postponed and so the folks at Expedia called the hotel to see if we could change our dates to align with the rescheduled show. Nicholas at the front desk promptly told Expedia sorry not sorry. And that policy is policy no refund, no modification to the dates. Unfortunate. I understand the discount on Expedia is based on the lack of cancellation but in this case was hoping for some compassion (as has been granted by other hotel chains in the past) to accommodate a date change and not a refund. So if anyone is looking for a place to stay in Edmonton on Nov 4 there will be an empty room paid in full at Union Bank Inn. Be sure to take the soaps.

I had stayed here for business. Honestly, this was the most expensive and nicest hotel I have stayed in since I travel to Las Vegas! I stayed in the Contemporary side of the hotel which had a lot more historical undertones with the room setup in such way that reminded me of the early 19th century if not late Victorian era. I have a degree in history so I can appreciate the historical touches to the room. However, I would have preferred that the beds be a little firmer because I like that however you cannot please everybody. My only gripe is that they didn't have a fridge in the room.

The only part I didn't enjoy was parking - the hotel has only 10 spaces and they rent them out during the day so you have to pay $20/night as well as $30/day just for parking if you don't leave during the day.

This place at Edminton was an awesome place at downtown. There was wine kept in our room as a welcome drink, was very nice after a long drive from Calgary. The rooms were great also the complimentary Breakfast was really tasty. The staff was great and very polite inspite of checking in late at night they were very nice and patient with us. Very clean and stylish hotel. Each room is uniquely styled. Not the largest of rooms but the decor more than makes up for it. Complimentary breakfast in the Madison Grill restaurant downstairs and complimentary fruit/cheese platter or wine/cheese. Wi-fi is free, parking is not free. Quite a few restaurants nearby, or can also choose to use their room service (which has quite small portions, especially considering the price).

Have stayed here a couple of times now and it definitely deserves full 5 stars. The staff is always exceptional and the rooms are very clean, modern and well appointed. Beds and pillows are very comfortable. The little attention to details really set this hotel apart (things like wine and cheese in your room, coffee machine and mini fridge). Parking is located around back but incredibly convenient. On top of all of this, this hotel is so reasonably priced. A la carte breakfast is included in your stay as well! The only small piece of feedback I can offer is to please add more power outlet options to the rooms. (Lamps with a power socket for example would be ideal, or a power bar for the desk). All in all, I highly recommend!

Clean and very comfortable. I thought bus noise and park next door would be an issue but was such a comfy bed I fell right asleep. Not too soft not too hard. Wine and cheese for free was a great touch. Included a most excellent breakfast, a real one, not one of those bad buffet lines, but made to order real selection in a real restaurant on site. Staff were friendly, efficient and accommodating. Would definitely stay again.

Great location and a beautiful building. The rooms are a touch small as a result, but they're tastefully decorated in a way that maximizes storage and floor space. Staff are friendly, and always available. The continental breakfast is second to none, at the Madison grill you get to choose any menu option so it's plated and custom to your taste. The food was okay; I don't think the chef was in that night as the were no specials, everything took a very long time to come out, and when it did it was not quite done (chewy pasta, chewy risotto, crunchy scalloped potatoes). Very very nice scallops for the appetizer though, and our waiter was good. Dinner and drinks were very expensive, which we knew going in, but it feels worse when it doesn't live up to expectations. I've been to Madison's in the past for lunch and dinner and it has always been good, so I'll try again, but it will be a while before I do.

Stayed here a few times, even got married and had reception here. Loved the place until we stayed there after Garth Brooks concert and found a 125 charge for spilling wine on a sheet. It was not much wine but apparently they felt the need to charge for that. I cannot accept that !! I have never had a problem with getting rid of wine stains before when spilled on linens.I also have never EVER been charged from other hotels before !!!Accidents happen!!! I would have hoped to continue to go to this place as it brings back a lot of good memories .But will not be returning due to a charge that i feel was not necessary. For the price of the room you would not think they would cry over spilled wine on a sheet.

The whole booking process was horrible. Stayed twice and both times they screwed it up(looking back on it the people in front of me my first time also had similar issues where they were scrambling for payment because the hotel "could not find it". Booked rooms for someone to see a dying friend and they lost my payment and made the grieving pay. So that was a fun surprise for them to get and rather then call the number that had booked the room they told my guests nothing could be done(this was not true at all). On the other occasion they closed out my account, then came up to my room asking for more money because they had not added omethibg on. What a disaster. The hotel is fine. But what an absolute disaster of these booking were and how poorly they were handled by the staff.

Very nicely decorated rooms. The Queen rooms in the Heritage wing are very small, but reasonably priced. Not a problem if your just sleeping here. There was a wedding on so they "upgraded" us to the Heritage wing. Tiny room with a view of a wall. I upgraded us to the presidential suite. It is a terrific room with an ok view. But overpriced in my opinion. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I just wish they had told me when I called about the wedding. I would probably stay here again because my wife loves how the rooms are decorated. Just make sure and tell them exactly what you want when you make the reservation.

A very nice boutique hotel with a few drawbacks. Loved the breaskfast included in room fare and it's very cozy. Every room is uniquely decorated. I had the "Monroe" which was Victorian. I thought the windows didn't do a good enough job at blocking noisy traffic sounds and the bathroom had very little counter space. Additionally, my room had too much furniture for its size. Beyond that, the price, location and comped breakfast make for a great value.

The room was tiny, but clean. Unfortunately, the building is not soundproofed at all, so noisy Jasper Ave gets in with full force.The room service staff questioned if I was old enough for the wine and cheese sampler (which is tiny). They should know based on my reservation. Overtime I asked for something, they seemed impatient and rushed me.Madison's was over priced and underwhelming and the waiter was rude. We ordered our food and the bill was delivered even before we got the entree!

Working with Kristina and her staff at the Union Bank Inn was a wonderful experience - everyone was very professional, friendly, and welcoming. They were very accommodating in arranging things just as we wanted them. On our big day we didn't worry about a thing - we had total confidence that everything would go smoothly and be just what we hoped - and it was!
